Andy joined Metropolis Mastering in 1996 on an old fashioned apprenticeship after graduating from University in Greenwich. Andy’s been honing his skills in the art of stereo and 5.1 Mastering ever since and disc cutting and digital editing under the careful guidance of Metropolis’ established engineers.
Andy’s recent clients include: The Good, The Bad and the Queen, Interpol, K T Tunstall, Free, Faith No More, Apartment, Starsailor, Live 8, The Orb, Voodoo Six and Chris De Burgh.
International artists include: Starla, Sto Zvirat and Youssou N’Dour…
Also known as Hippy throughout the industry, Andy has a broad taste and understanding of music. This is reflected in many of the projects he has worked on from the Afro Beats of Youssou N’Dour, to Samba influenced Brazilian Drum & Bass and the Czech ska punk sounds of Sto Zvirat, through to psychedelic melodies of The Orb.
Having grown up covered in festival mud and always keeping a close eye on the music press, Andy developed a passion for discovering unsigned bands and underground music. He has recently worked with highly rated Brighton Goth rockers, The Lovegods, London based Larrikin Love and Emma McGlynn.
It would be impossible to ignore Hippy’s involvement in the British pop scene and he is proud to have edited No.1 Singles for Coldplay and Robbie Williams as well as critically acclaimed albums by Richard Ashcroft, Super Furry Animals and Roni Size.
